Managing Vendor Pricing Data

A product's price is always tied to the vendor that sells it. In Riffle, you can capture pricing from multiple vendors for the same product.

Pricing a product

A price always belongs to a vendor. To add one select a product from the Materials & Products page to open the product panel. Navigate to the Pricing & Vendors tab. To add a new vendor price, press the Add a price & source for this item button. To edit an existing vendor price, press the Edit Price button to the right of the vendor price listing.

When more than one vendor prices an item, you will also see all of that pricing in one place.

On the General tab, pressing Add/update a price will take you to the Pricing & Vendors tab.

Default pricing

Because a single product can carry a price from more than one vendor, Riffle shows one default price on the General tab. This is known as the Current Cost and is determined by:

  • Last purchased: the price from the last vendor you actually bought this item from.

  • Lowest price: if you have not bought it from anyone yet, the lowest current price across your vendors.

12-month price history

At the bottom of the Pricing & Vendors tab of the product panel, you'll see a 12-month price history logging all prices that have been added or edited in the past year.
