Signing up with Google—why is it giving me an “unsafe app” warning?

You might see some messages from Google that look a bit alarming but don’t worry—your account is safe. You’re seeing this temporary message because RiffleCM is still in development during this early testing phase.

✅ The Google warning is temporary while we finish the app verification process.

✅ RiffleCM only requests your email and basic profile info.

✅ You can safely continue with Google to complete your sign-up.

First off, thank you for joining our early testing group!

You’re part of a small set of users helping us make RiffleCM better for subcontractors everywhere. Here's the deal with Google:

✅ We only request access to your work-related email and basic profile info (your name and avatar).

🚫 We cannot view or access your Google account data, Google usage data, location data, Google messages, or other data.

🚫 We cannot view nor do we store your Google password.

Why we use Google sign-in

Riffle integrates with your work email to automatically identify, organize, and share bid invites with your team—all in real-time as you receive them.

Using Google Sign-In ensures you:

✅ Stay authenticated securely (no passwords to reset).

✅ Connect your work email quickly for ITB detection.

✅ Maintain full control; you can revoke access anytime through your Google Account settings

How to sign up using Google (step-by-step)

1️⃣ Start from the RiffleCM sign-up page

You’ll see the screen prompting you to connect your work email.

Press Continue & Connect with Gmail.

2️⃣ Choose your Google account

Select your company/work email account and you’ll be prompted to sign in.

Remember, Riffle can’t see your password, even if you press the "show password" checkbox on this screen.

3️⃣ The “App Not Verified” screen

Google might also display a message telling you “Google hasn’t verified this app”. Press Advanced

Then press Go to nogfeawzoicsxrynqfjh.supabase.co (unsafe)—it’s safe in this context because you’re in our early test group.

  • 💡What the heck is nogfeawzoicsxrynqfjh.supabase.co ?
This is Google's automatically generated name for the RiffleCM app during testing. It will change once the app is fully verified.

4️⃣ Review the basic info RiffleCM will access

You’ll see a permissions screen. This includes your name, email address, and profile picture.

5️⃣ Complete sign-in

Be sure to allow email access by checking the “View your email messages and settings”Riffle only looks for work-related ITBs to automatically collaborate with your team.

You do not have to enable this option to join Riffle, but leaving it unchecked will prevent the app from automatically identifying & sharing ITBs with your team.

That's it!

After following this process, your Riffle account will be established with Google! After sharing some basic information about your company, Riffle will begin its initial connection; this is a one-time process and can take a couple of minutes.

⚠️ If you're signing up a new company, you’ll be taken through Riffle’s workspace creation process. Riffle then begins organizing your Project Inbox with ITBs once you complete those remaining onboarding steps.

Your privacy and security

We take privacy seriously. Here’s what happens behind the scenes:

  • Riffle uses Google OAuth 2.0, the industry standard for secure sign-ins.

  • We do not store passwords—only encrypted tokens tied to your email identity.

  • We do not modify or store your personal email contents.

  • You can revoke access to Riffle anytime via myaccount.google.com/permissions.
